The men`s and women`s track and field teams had a solid showing on Saturday, with several athletes setting school and meet records at the Golden Eagle Invitational held by Brockport.
The women's track and field team saw two members score first-place finishes as Katie Bott won the 800-meter run (2:18.01) and Marissa Pariseau took home the title in the 400-meter dash (1:00.56). Both athletes' times were meet records. Also in the 800, Sarah Popovitch took sixth (2:25.79) while Valeria Kudinov (10th – 1:04.98) and Alexis Carey (eleventh – 1:06.20) hovered around the top-ten in the 400.
Kristen Harrigan found success in both the 200-meter dash (seventh – 27.64) and achieved a new personal best in the long jump (sixth – 5.09 meters/16 feet, 8.5 inches). In the women's high jump, Emily Wild took fifth with a jump of 1.5 meters (4 feet, 11 inches). Emily Yerdon finished in fourth place in the women's 5000 meter run with a time of 19:13.08.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Harrigan, Kudinov, Pariseau, and Bott broke the school record, set a meet record and finished first in a time of 4:04.01.
On the men's side, Matt Wagenhauser took the title in the men's 500-meter dash with a meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 1:05.11. Teammates Nicholas Reinsdorf and Andy Baldwin scored top-five finishes and ECAC qualifying times in the men's 800 meter-run, with Reinsdorf placing third (1:57.47) and Baldwin fourth (1:57.82). Reinsdorf's time is also a new school record.
Brandon Comden also saw success on the track, recording a third place finish in the 60-meter dash (7.30) and a sixth in the 200 (23.43). Both times are new personal bests. In the men's 400, Ryan Brennan took ninth place with a time of 53.55.
The men also saw success in the 5000-meter run as Nick Montesano finished sixth (16:04.55), Tyler Morris 10th (16:10.05) and Kyle Gilyard just outside the top 10 in eleventh (16:15.98). In the field, Chris Bridgewater finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.60 meters (44 feet, 7.5 inches).
Like the women, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Baldwin, Brennan, Reinsdorf, and Wagenhauser broke the school and meet records on the way to a first-place finish in 3:25.28.
The teams are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for the Ithaca Invitational.
