The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) has named Alex Herringshaw of the Oswego State wrestling team its Co-Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Jan. 14.
Herringshaw was dominant at the Budd Whitehill Duals over the weekend. With a 4-0 record, the Holland Patent native went undefeated at the duals, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team.
The rookie started the weekend with a 16-0 technical fall at 165 to help Oswego secure a 21-17 victory over No. 18 Wesleyan. In the Lakers' second match, Herringshaw followed up with a major decision (14-3) to pick up four points for his team. The sophomore collected his third win of the day when he earned a 6-2 decision over his opponent. On Saturday, Herrginshaw capped off his weekend with yet another victory as he won by technical fall (18-3) over his Springfield opponent.
Herringshaw and the Lakers return to the mat tonight as they host Brockport in the Max Ziel Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
