At Breitbeck Park tonight, Bridget Dolbear was introduced as the new Executive Director for Harborfest… only 3 days before the festival officially begins.
Dolbear is a familiar face for many around the county; she has a long history of fund development and event planning from her lengthy tenure as the Development Coordinator at Oswego County Opportunities. Some of the many signature events Dolbear has planned for that agency included the Giving Thanks food and beverage pairing event, Glow for OCO Golf Tournament, and many more, on top of supporting the agency through grant-writing and more.
As part of the brief ceremony, Mayor Rob Corradino gave remarks welcoming Dolbear to the Harborfest team, noting that “the whole city chips in to make Harborfest happen—the police, DPW, and many other departments.”
County Legislator Lee Walker Jr., whose legislative district covers a portion of the City of Oswego, also spoke and referenced his own time spent volunteering on the festival's music committee. “I appreciate Bridget for stepping up to the plate and coming in swinging,” Walker Jr. said.
Dolbear herself was introduced by the President of Harborfest’s Board of Directors, Chuck Handley. Dolbear said to the small crowd, “For decades this has been a highlight of our summers,” noting the vital role the festival plays in the county's economy, tourism, and culture. “It’s an incredible privilege and responsibility to stand before you today,” Dolbear said. “I’m excited to continue to make HarborFest thrive for generations to come.”
Harborfest, the annual waterfront festival in Oswego, draws a crowd of approximately 50,000 attendees every year according to its website. Festivities include live music, carnival rides, shopping, and the iconic fireworks over Lake Ontario on Saturday night.
