The Oswego State wrestling team finished in fifth place at the Ithaca Invitational Saturday, Nov. 9, with a total of 93 points.
Abubakarr Sow paved the way for the Lakers. He deafeated Ithaca's Eamann Gaffey ofin an 11-6 decision. Sow then beat Darryl Albonico from New York University for the first place finish in the 149 weight class.
The Lakers had three wrestlers finish in fifth place in their respective weight classes: James Ronca at 125, Simon Greebel at 133 and Dustin Jones at 157.
Captain Scott Bova recorded a first period pin and finished in third place at 184.
Andrew Cole, the No. 1 seed in the 197 weight class, finished in sixth place Saturday. Cole had to call for a medical forfeit due to an injury.
Oswego will return to the mat when the team travels to Rochester to take on Rochester Institute of Technology for a 1 p.m. start Saturday, Nov. 16.
