The Oswego State golf team claimed its second first place finish of the season in just its second event of the spring, shooting a 350 to capture the Elmira College Spring Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Elmira Country Club (par-72, 6,687 yards).
Oswego out-dueled SUNY Cobleskill by four strokes while the host Soaring Eagles came in third with a 366. Morrisville State (373) and Keuka College (409) rounded out the field of five.
Stu Winn was the medalist on Tuesday, shooting a plus-nine 81 to take the crown by two strokes. Close behind the sophomore was senior Tyler Wurzer, posting an 83, good for a tie for silver. Freshman Kyle McCloskey closed out the top 10 in the tournament, grabbing a portion of a four-way tie for ninth place with a 92. The Lakers' fourth and final score to be added into the team cumulative was sophomore Zachary Hiris' 94. That total was good for a three-way split of 16th place.
Oswego will close out its season on Saturday and Sunday when it hosts the 10th Annual Laker Spring Tournament. Saturday's tee time is slated for 11 a.m.
