The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has released its All-Academic teams and individuals for the 2013-14 track and field season. Oswego State's women's track and field team was recognized while Katie Bott was acknowledged on the individual side.
For the team award, women's track and field compiled a 3.25 grade-point average to be one of six SUNYAC women's squads to earn a spot on the list. A total of 158 women's teams collected the distinction by achieving a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher. Brockport, Fredonia, Geneseo, Oneonta and Plattsburgh were the other conference institutions to be honored.
Bott, a senior this past season, finished the year with a 3.67 GPA in accounting and management. She was one of just four women from the SUNYAC to meet the criteria and nab a spot on the All-Academic Team.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 and have met any of the following athletic standards: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. In all, 416 women from 126 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
Bott competed in both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships, finishing each season ranked in the top 25 for the 800-meter run.
