The United Way of Greater Oswego County will host its inaugural Hole in One Bowl on Sunday, April 6 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego. The event serves as a fundraiser for the various youth programs that the United Way helps sponsor.

In April, the Oswego Public Library will be hosting its first `Looking @ Oswego County`. The history of the Town of Parish will be displayed on the main floor of the library until the end of April. The Town of Parish was part of Scriba Patent and became township twenty three. Settlement began in 1803 when Reverend Gamaliel Barnes, a Baptist minister arrived with his son in-law Stephen D. Morse.
By 1828 Parish had enough citizens to separate from its mother town of Mexico and was incorporated as a Town on March 20th. Paul Allen was the first Supervisor.
Swartz presented a copy of "Uphill Both Ways: an Oral History of the County Schools of Parish" to Ferlito which will be kept in the library's local history room.
`Random Acts of Kindness` have been recognized recently at the Oswego Middle School. Principal Mary Beth Fierro and Assistant Principal Robyn Proud have been extremely supportive of promoting positive actions of their students. Throughout the year students and staff have been recognized for assisting others . Recently recognized by Proud (left), OMS Physical Education teacher Steve Carbone and Fierro was Alec Caroccio.
Kingsford Park Elementary School kindergarten students and the Oswego City Police Department representatives recently gathered in the school parking lot. Sgt. Jim Cunningham and K-9 Officer Jim Ladue along with service dog "Crixus" visited the west side school. The students enjoyed the visit that taught them about "Our Community". They had the opportunity to see the inside of a police car and all the tools that it incorporated. Some even had the chance to talk on the communications radio. This wasn't the first time as Sgt. Cunningham visited KPS every year.
If you stroll down the halls of St. Francis Commons in Oswego, you are apt to see friends visiting with residents, including friends of the `fury` variety!
Fitzhugh Park Elementary will present its 7th world premiere musical `Blackjack Dice and the Diamond Heist` on April 9 and 10 at 7:00 PM at Oswego High School`s Robinson-Faust Center for the Performing Arts.
The Cat in the Hat visited the children at Oswego Head Start Pre-K. While at Head Start the Cat in the Hat cooked the children green eggs and ham, and lead the children in some dancing.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is pleased to host the second history lecture of the 2014 Series on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:30 pm. The topic will be "Battle Island, July 3, 1756: Ambush on the Oswego River." presented by historian Steve Wapen. The program will be held at the Museum and is open to the public.
