Felix Cavaliere's Rascals will provide a "good times" opening to the 28th annual Oswego Harborfest. On Thursday, July 23 the NRG Lakeview Stage in Breitbeck Park will set the mood for the rest of a spectacular weekend as one of the premier free music festivals in the nation kicks off.
Gin Blossoms and special guests Fastball and The Rembrandts will rock the Breitbeck Park NRG Lakeview stage on Friday night July 24 as the "Circle of Friends" Tour for night number two of Oswego Harborfest.
One of the benchmarks for a strong community is the overall health of its residents. United Way of Greater Oswego County helps to fund 16 human services programs that focus specifically on improving the health and well-being of Oswego County residents. One of the most vital programs to that mission is the Rural and Migrant Ministry of Oswego County.
Many Oswego County fire departments will open their doors to area residents so they can learn about what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter in their community as part of the fifth annual "RecruitNY" statewide initiative.
Opening night of the 28th edition of Oswego Harborfest will be a family party night with the announcement of another spectacular musical act on the NRG Lakeview Stage. Nik and the Nice Guys will open this year's four day musical and pyrotechnic celebration on Thursday, July 23. This high energy, rock and roll band features 11 multi-talented musicians and performers including a female singer, dancers and the "Niktones" horn section.
"The goal of Oswego Harborfest is to draw attention to our community and its beautiful harbor, while at the same time providing something special for the residents of our area," said Oswego Harborfest Executive Director Doug Buske.
Fort Ontario will host its first ever croquet themed weekend May 23 and 24. The event will be held inside the old stone fort from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday May 23, and 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday May 24. All ages are welcome, normal fort admission rates will apply.
Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) has teamed with Peaceful Remedies, Courtney's Couture Cuts, and Hospice to offer "Ladies Nite at the Spa, Pamper Me Pretty." Hosted by Courtney's Couture Cuts, Pamper Me Pretty is a special evening for women living with a life threatening disease or are at least one year out of treatment or a medical procedure and their caregivers.
