The reception to honor these artists will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 7 pm. All are invited. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
In the Timothy McHenry gallery on the second floor of the Art Center, there will be an exhibition by woodworker Robert Love, a solo show award winner from 2025. The show, entitled Collaboration with Nature, showcases Love’s lifelong passion for wood turning and carving.
Love creates both functional and sculptural pieces—including bowls, platters, boxes, hollow forms, and unique vessels—from a variety of domestic and exotic woods. He strives to let the wood's natural grain, figure, and character guide each piece, revealing the beauty already within the material.
On the first floor of the Art Center, in the Kirk Beason Gallery, will be a display of artwork by Barbara Beyerbach, who has been painting and drawing sincere her college years. The work in this exhibition, titled Then and Now, includes graphite, pastels, watercolor, acrylic and oils and attempts to capture the energy and beauty of a place, focusing on how the light moves through it. The work in this show spans from 1975-2026 and reflects her passions for nature, home, travel, and paint.
In the Alcove, part of the Art Center lobby, local artist and longtime AAO member Peter Mahan digs into his silver gelatin photograph archives to present The Dust of Yesteryear Revisited, an intimate exhibition of works reminiscent of mid-19th century photography.
All three shows will run until Sunday, September 20. Regular gallery hours are Saturday 10am to 1pm, Sunday 1pm to 4pm, Wednesday 10am to 1pm, and Thursday 5pm to 8pm.
