The Oswego State men's cross country team placed second in its first race of the year, competing at Fredonia's Pre-SUNYAC Preview.
Cortland collected the top spot of the all-SUNYAC, four-team race.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Three Lakers claimed spots in the top 10, paced by Andrew Boyce's third-place outing.
- The junior averaged 5:29 flat per mile, finishing in 20:26.6, just 12 seconds of his personal-best 6K mark.
- Senior Tim Olmsted also ran the race in less than 21 minutes, earning sixth place.
- The final Laker in the top 10 was Olmsted's classmate Ben Lupia, who crossed the finish line in 21:30.8.
- Sophomore Matthew Barbookles was exactly six second behind Lupia in 11th place.
- Senior Doug Bachman averaged slightly over a 5:50 mile, taking 14th.
- A pair of freshmen rounded out those scoring for Oswego, as Adam Beach and John Preperian went back-to-back in 20th and 21st place to finish in the top half of the field. Less than a second separated the duo.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will host their annual invitational at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Hidden Fields course on campus.
