School Records Set Tone for Outdoor Season

OS Track and Field The Oswego State women`s track and field team opened the season at the Rochester Alumni Invitational on Sunday after a late start to the season due to last week's meet cancellation at Ithaca College. Oswego posted a strong showing on the back of two school record-setting performances and three ECAC qualifying marks.

Junior Kristen Harrigan edged out a school record in the long jump, breaking a mark that stood for 11 years by 1 centimeter on her way to a fifth place finish in the event with a leap of 5.18 meters (16'11-3/4"). Classmate and captain Marissa Pariseau also set a new school record in the 400, taking second with a time of 58.51, shattering her previous collegiate-best of 59.17. Pariseau's performance also qualified her for ECAC's.

In the 800, senior captain Katie Bott opened her outdoor season by solidifying her spot near the top of the ECAC leaderboard, opening the door to capture her second 800-meter crown at this spring's championships with a time of 2:15.94.

The women's 4x400-meter relay also secured its spot at the ECAC Championships, running a time of 4:02.71. The time was good to take second overall and narrowly missed the outdoor school record by just over a second.

The women finished the day in 10th place overall out of 22 teams, just eight points back of fifth place and conference rival Geneseo.

Oswego returns to action on Saturday when it travels back to Rochester to take part in the Roc City Challenge, hosted by Nazereth College.
