Hair Salon Expands Gift Shop, Adds Team Members

The New Chapter of Bella Hair “Oswego”

Bella Hair is thrilled to announce their recent expansion in downtown Oswego. Located in Canal Commons, same location but the newly expanded space features a larger gift shop, more room to serve clients, and the warm, welcoming riverside atmosphere that they’ve worked so hard to create.

Top-10 Finishes for Lakers in Spring Opener

The Oswego State men’s and women’s track and field teams opened their spring season at the Ramapo College Invitational on Saturday. With a total of 53 points, the men’s team finished sixth out of 22 teams, while the women collected 31 points to finish eighth out of 20 teams.

Oswego’s top finish of the day came in the men’s 1500 meter run. Beating out 64 competitors, Nick LeClair took first place in the event with a time of 4:05.64 to rack up 10 points for the Lakers. The junior was followed closely by classmate Tim Olmsted, who claimed fourth place and seven points with a time of 4:08.42. Both runners also notched top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run, with Olmsted placing seventh with a time of 2:01.93 and LeClair placing 10th with a time of 2:04.98.

In the 400-meter dash, Charles Callin captured four points for the Lakers by finishing fifth with a time of 50.53. Colin Greenseich added on three more points with an eighth place finish in the 5000-meter run, finishing in 15:36.61.

The men had success in the field events as well. Ethan Erhlich competed in the javelin throw, throwing a distance of 51.58 meters to place third. Akim Cadet notched a fourth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.36 meters.

For the women, Carly Vreugde recorded a pair of top-10 finishes. The sophomore’s best finish of the day came with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 59.54. In the 200-meter dash, Vreugde finished eighth with a time of 27.44.

In the 800-meter run, three Lakers captured points for their team. Kayla Wheeler scored five with a 2:29.21 finish to place fifth, Jamie Kasza scored three with a 2:31.63 finish to place seventh and Rachel Meyer followed one spot behind Kasza with a time of 2:32.96 to earn two points.

Jumps were a highlight for the women, as Oswego took home two top-five finishes. First, Sarah Yensan jumped a distance of 5.21 meters to place fifth in the long jump. Tylea McCarthy-Walker also finished fifth, with a distance of 10.85 meters in the triple jump.

Oswego continues its spring season on Saturday as it competes in the Hamilton College Invite.
