
The Oswego State women's swimming and diving team earned its first victory of the year with a convincing 133-107 triumph over visiting Oneonta on Saturday at Laker Pool. Oswego is now 1-1 on the year after the season's first week while the Red Dragons drop to 0-1.
Freshman Riley Synan led the way for the Lakers, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:04.75. Later in the meet, Synan posted a time of 1:00.41, which again was good for first place.
In between Synan's pair of victories was a Hannah Jensen win, as the sophomore captured the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 25.84.
In the diving portion of the event, the Lakers finished 1-2, as Tierney Gillen won the event with a score of 192.50 followed in second by Kelly Lindner's 163.00 points.
Another freshman collected a win early in her Laker career, as Megan Kowalski registered a time of 1:12.91 for the 100-yard breaststroke crown.
Oswego claimed a relay during the meet, with Jensen, Synan, Emily Burton and Emily Doe combining for a time of 1:44.86 in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Lakers will take its first road trip of the season for their next meet, going to Aurora, N.Y. at 1 p.m. on Saturday to face the Express of Wells College.
