An unknown assailant identified only as a 30-year-old man from California is now in custody after entering the Capitol Hilton in DC on 16th St. and shooting a Secret Service Agent at the security checkpoint, in a presumed assassination attempt of President Donald Trump.

The incident occurred at the beginning of the event. The shooter had a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives; a search warrant is being executed at the shooter's apartment. He was also confirmed as a guest of the hotel. The assailant is currently in custody and being evaluated at an area hospital per DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. It is confirmed that the suspect was not struck by gunfire.

Jeanine Pirro, the Attorney General of DC, has already announced the charges: the assailant is being charged with two counts of 924C violations of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime; 1 count of assault on a federal officer (likely to be upgraded to domestic terror charge).

After shots were fired, the President was rushed back to the White House by the Secret Service, and there are no reported injuries among the Cabinet or the rest of the crowd. In an update from President Trump, the Secret Service agent who was shot in the vest is "doing great after being shot” and is in the care of a local hospital.

The President has since announced, "He looks like a lone wolf shooter." This has been confirmed by the Mayor of DC and the Field Officer in Charge of the Washington Division Derek Cox.

Confirmed in attendance at the dinner: President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel, Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche, and US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro.

The FBI is currently in charge of the situation and the investigation, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service. "Law enforcement did exactly what we want them to do; justice will be served," said Todd Blanche. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line, 1-800-CALL-FBI.
