16th annual St. Luke Charity Golf Tournament Aug. 10 benefits resident programs

16th annual St. Luke Charity Golf Tournament Aug. 10 benefits resident programs

Participants and supporters of the St. Luke-Francis Boyce Memorial Charity Golf event will again be able to take satisfaction in knowing they are helping raise money to benefit resident programs at not-for-profit healthcare providers St. Luke Health Services, Bishop's Commons Enriched Living Residence and Michaud Residential Health Services.

This year, the 16th edition of this charity event promises to be another fun-filled day of golf and socializing as the tournament "tees off" Saturday, Aug. 10, at Battle Island Golf Course, with an 8 a.m. "shot gun" start. The four-person "Captain & Crew" tournament attracts both the serious and novice golf teams alike–as prizes are awarded in both categories. An optional "skins" game is also a part of the competition.

The tournament entry fee is $80 per person. The field will be limited to the first 25teams to register. The entry fee includes greens fees, cart, and on-course games with lunch and awards immediately following at the Battle Island Club House Café.

The annual charity golf tournament benefits the St. Luke-Foster Burden Fund; providing financial resources in support of the "Don't Stop Wishing" program. This initiative adds to the quality of life enjoyed by residents and helps maintain connections with our community through activities and events.

"With the addition of St. Francis Commons Assisted Living Residence to our affiliates this fall, our need to grow the level of support for all our not-for-profit, community-based healthcare affiliates, is expanding," said Greg Osetek, director of community relations at St. Luke and one of the event organizers. "In the past decade, our charity golf event has raised well more than a hundred thousand dollars to behalf of our resident programs and we are seeing tremendous support again this year."

Corporate sponsors of the 16th Annual Boyce Memorial Charity Golf Tournament include Dermody, Burke & Brown CPAs LLC; Environmental Services Specialist Corp; Fulton Savings Bank; Harbor Pharmacy; The Hayner-Hoyt Corporation; IV4, Inc.; Menter, Rudin & Trivelpiece P.C; Rehab Resources; Sodexo; and Usherwood Office Technologies.

A $20,000 Hole-In One Contest for participants is sponsored by Faust, Chambers Charles LLP and a putting contest courtesy of Harbor Pharmacy are some of the popular "on-course" games taking place at the event. Schopfer Architects is providing the golfer's breakfast.

The charity golf tournament honors the late Francis Boyce, the first administrator of St. Luke Health Services and past president of the board of directors. An avid golfer, Boyce helped shape the St. Luke organization during his 35 year tenure with the not-for-profit healthcare provider.
