Cold Springs’ Ladies Golf League Supports OCO Cancer Services

Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services Program recently received some much needed support when representatives of the Ladies Golf League at Cold Springs Golf Course in Mannsville presented the program with the proceeds of its 7th Annual breast cancer awareness golf tournament. The tournament was held in memory of Linda Thomas who lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year.

The tournament raised $2,300 in support of the Cancer Services Program, which provides free mammograms, breast exams, and breast ultrasounds for uninsured and under-insured women in Oswego County.

“The tournament was a wonderful way for us to remember Linda,” said Planning Committee Member Arlene Bauer. “It was fitting that the event benefitted the Cancer Services Program. Of course this would not have been possible if not for the support we received from my fellow planning committee members Toni Locy, Sheila and Lisa Clark, Linda Raiti, Flo Bast, and Harley Bates,”

“I am very grateful to Arlene Bauer, Mary Alford, and the other individuals that coordinated this golf tournament including Mary, Emily, Miranda, and Lisa Livingston for making pink wreaths to sell at the event. It’s rewarding to know that the work we do is appreciated and valued by the communities we serve,” said Carolyn Handville, coordinator OCO’s Cancer Services Program. “On behalf of everyone involved with the Cancer Services Program, and those that we serve, I extend my sincerest thanks for remembering us again this year and to all the business and individuals who graciously sponsored the tournament.”

Administered through Oswego County Opportunities, the Cancer Services Program Partnership offers a number of cancer screening services including: Clinical Breast Exams, Mammograms, Pap/Pelvic Exams, and Colorectal Cancer Screenings for men and women. These screenings are available year round, free of charge, and play an important part in maintaining good health. For more information about the Cancer Services Program Partnership or to check your eligibility, contact Carolyn Handville at 315-592-0830.
