Francis Boyce Memorial Charity Golf Tournament Set for August 8th

The 18th edition of the St. Luke-Francis Boyce Memorial Charity Golf Tournament “tees off” on Saturday, August 8th at Battle Island Golf Course, with an 8:00 a.m. “shot gun” start. The four-person “Captain & Crew” tournament attracts both the serious and novice golf teams alike, but no matter the skill level the event promises to be another fun-filled day of golf and socializing for all participants.

The tournament entry fee is $80.00 per person. The field will be limited to the first twenty-five teams to register. The entry fee includes greens fees, cart, and on-course games, with lunch and awards immediately following at Kristen’s Battle Island Club House Café.

“Since its inception our charity golf event has raised funds that have helped our not-for-profit affiliates to provide special items or opportunities for those in our care at all four of our locations here in Oswego County,” said Greg Osetek, Director of Community Relations at St. Luke and one of the tournament’s organizers.

This year’s proceeds from the charity golf tournament will support the “Don’t Stop Wishing” program. The organization-wide program at all four health-related affiliates helps enhance the quality of life enjoyed by residents and maintains connections with the community by sponsoring trips, activities and events throughout the year.

Sponsors of the 18th Annual Boyce Memorial Charity Golf Tournament include The Bonadio Group; Environmental Services Specialist Corp; Fulton Savings Bank; Harbor Pharmacy; The Hayner-Hoyt Corporation; IV4, Inc.; McKesson Medical Surgical; Menter, Rudin & Trivelpiece P.C; Rehab Resources; Sodexo and Usherwood Office Technology.

A $20,000 Hole-In One Contest sponsored by The House Works, and chipping contest are some of the popular “on-course” games taking place at the event on August 8th. An optional “skins” game is also part of the competition.

The charity golf tournament honors the late Francis Boyce, first Administrator of St. Luke Health Services and past President of the Board of Directors. An avid golfer, Mr. Boyce helped shape the St. Luke organization during his thirty-five year tenure with the not-for-profit healthcare provider.

For more information about the event, to register to golf or for sponsorship opportunities, please contact the St. Luke Community Relations Department at 342-3166, or visit the St. Luke website page at www.stlukehs.com, look under the “Giving” tab.
