
The Oswego State men's swimming and diving team collected 82 points on day two of the SUNYAC Championships, bringing its two-day total to 188, which places them in fifth at Eric Community College's Burt Flickinger Athletic Complex on Friday.
In the first men's event of the day, Oswego claimed sixth place in the 200-yard medley relay as Devon Foster, Jacob Mullett, Sanjay Raman and Zachary Gerber earned 26 team points in a time of 1:38.27.
The 400-yard IM was the 16th event of the championship, in which Aidan Meehan took eighth place, touching the wall in 4:26.19 for 11 points. Raman was back at it a few events later, also collecting 11 points for an eight place performance in the 100-yard butterfly.
Teammates Mullett and Gerber finished in the top eight in the 100-yard backstroke, combining for 24 points towards the Lakers' score. Mullet took sixth with a time of 59.74 while Gerber came in just 1.09 later at 1:00.33. In the same event, Dylan Tiefenthaler tallied a point with a 16th-place finish and a time of 1:02.43.
Austin Nau added two points in the effort, competing in the 100-yard backstroke and closing with a time of 56.75, which was good for 15th.
Oswego saved the best for last, as Meehan, Nau, Mullett and James Dillon teamed up for a fourth place finish and 30 points in the 800-yard freestyle. The four wrapped up the race in 7:12.01, just .17 behind New Paltz's group.
The Lakers will return to the pool at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the final day of the league championship.
