The Oswego State women's ice hockey team lost an early lead to fall 2-1 at Hamilton College on Tuesday evening. Oswego's loss snapped a four-game winning streak and a five-game span without a loss. With the defeat, the Lakers fall to 6-2-1 on the season.
Oswego struck first, with Olivia Boersen scoring an unassisted goal at 7:17 in the opening period. The captain's goal would be the only one of the first period, sending the Lakers to the locker room with a 1-0 advantage at the intermission.
Hamilton knotted the score at 1-1 in the second period with 13:40 remaining in the stanza. Despite outshooting its opponent 10-6 in the period, Oswego would head to the second intermission tied at one goal apiece.
The Continentals scored the eventual game-winning goal just over five minutes into the final period of regulation. Each team took seven shots in the third but only Hamilton could find the back of the net.
Catherine Cote started in goal for the Lakers and picked up only her second loss of the season (4-2) while stopping 17 shots.
Oswego will take a break for the holiday before returning to the ice at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 6th when it hosts SUNY Canton as a part of White Out Weekend in the Campus Center Ice Arena.
