The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized Oswego State's Teresa Shattuck as an All-Empire Region perform for the 2017 season. Shattuck was one of 16 members on the region's first team, and just one of six athletes from State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) institutions.
A sophomore, Shattuck has now been named All-Region in each of her two seasons as a Laker, earning second team recognition as a freshman on the heels of being named the conference's Rookie of the Year. In 2017, Shattuck was impressive in both a national and program history context. Currently, the Syracuse, N.Y. native ranks third in the country in assists per game (3.73) and sixth in total assists (56). Her 5.33 points per game average is also in the top 30 nationally (29th).
Those 56 assists set a new single-season record for Oswego, breaking her sister Erannan Shattuck's previous mark of 53, set last year. T. Shattuck also broke the single-game Laker record for assists in a game twice during the campaign. She tallied nine helpers against The Sage Colleges on March 9 and broke her own record two-games later with 10 assists versus SUNY Canton on March 21.
Shattuck places in the top 10 of several categories at the conference level, including assists (56 – 1st), points (80 – 3rd) and draw controls (42 – T-7th). In her short two-year career thus far, the Bishop Grimes High School alumna is just 21 assists short of the most in a tenure at Oswego and already ranks eight in all-time points (159).
The Lakers will return all but two players for the 2018 slate, including Shattuck and four other All-SUNYAC selections.
