The Oswego State wrestling team scored 20.5 points to finish in 8th place at the 2014 ECWC Championships hosted by Lycoming College. Ithaca took the top spot, scoring 130.0 as a team, 32 points better than the next closest competitor (Brockport, 98.0).
Abubakarr Sow took second place at 149 winning three matches before falling in the championship match to Ithaca's Eamonn Gaffney by decision (18-9).
Sow won his first match by major decision, 10-0, over Wonsik Kim of RIT. He then took down Lucas Ciancamino of Cortland by fall at 3:48. The junior's last victory of the day came over Lycoming's Seth Lansberry in a 7-2 decision. Sow's effort earn the team 16.00 points.
The 165-pound David Hall earned the team's other 4.50 points with a 15-2 major decision over Lycoming's Matthew Neff followed by a fall at 1:14 over Neff's teammate Frank Rodriguez.
Jacob Yankloski won two matches in the 125 weight class, advancing by medical forfeit and then winning by fall over Alfred State's Jason Charlette at 3:35.
Oswego will return to action with its first home event of the season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night when Brockport comes to campus.
