Summer brings plenty of fun outdoor traditions, like backyard barbeques, picnics on the beach, and, of course, plenty of fireworks.

Three Oswego State men`s ice hockey players recognized by D3hockey.com; Rodrigues named Player of the Year

     Oswego State senior men's ice hockey players Paul Rodrigues, Luke Moodie and Zach Josepher were recognized by D3hockey.com in its season-end awards.

     Rodrigues was named D3hockey.com National Player of the Year, East Region Player of the Year and All-East Region First Team, while Josepher was named All-America First Team and All-East Region First Team and Moodie was named All-East Region Second Team. The Lakers were the only East Region team to have three honorees.

     Decided by the votes of Sports Information Directors at Division III institutions that sponsor men's ice hockey, the All-American teams are comprised of the top vote-getters within their respective regions, while the East Region teams were decided on by the votes of Sports Information Directors in the East Region only.

     Rodrigues finished the season with 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points to help lead Oswego State to a national runner-up finish. His 30 assists were tied for most in Division III, while his 46 points were good for second-most, and were just one point behind the national leader. Eleven of the Etobicoke, Ontario native's 16 goals came in non-conference games, and included a goal against Norwich in the NCAA semifinals and the overtime game-winner against Adrian in the NCAA quarterfinals. He also tallied to assists in Oswego State's 4-0 win over Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC Championship that handed the Lakers their first SUNYAC playoff title since 2010.

     Rodrigues, who was named the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Sid Watson Memorial Award winner, the USCHO.com Player of the Year and the SUNYAC Herb Hammond Most Valuable Player, ended his career with 50 goals and 83 assists for 133 points in 112 career games.

  Zach Josepher   Josepher, a defenseman from Wantagh, N.Y., was a big part of a defensive unit that was one of only six schools to allow less than two goals per game over the course of the season. He also finished tied for fourth in goals scored by a defenseman, with nine, and his 23 points were seventh in the East Region for a blueliner. Josepher was also named to the AHCA Division CCM Men's Hockey All-America East Second Team and First Team All-SUNYAC.

     Moodie, an Oakville, Ontario native, led Oswego State with 22 goals on the season,Luke Moodie which were the second most in the East Region and his 44 total points were third most. Moodie, who finished his Laker career with 63 goals and 69 assists for 132 points, was also named to the AHCA Division CCM Men's Hockey All-America East Second Team and First Team All-SUNYAC.

     Over the course of the last four years, the Lakers made four NCAA tournament, four Frozen Four, and two national championship game appearances posting a record of 98-17-2.
