The Oswego State men`s swimming and diving team finished second at the Geneseo Invitational while the women`s team took third on Saturday afternoon. The host Knights took the title on both sides.
On the men's side, Andrew Minnick scored a first in the 200-yard freestyle by touching the wall in 1:49.07. Also scoring well for the team by earning runner-up finishes were James Pope in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.44), Tom Schmid in the 50-yard freestyle (22.60) and Michael Havrylkoff in the 100-yard freestyle (51.12).
The 400-meter freestyle relay team of Minnick, Schmid, Zachary Gerber, and Austin Nau also brought home a second-place finish with a time of 3:24.59.
Other top scoring efforts came from Aidan Meehan in the 100-yard backstroke (fifth – 1:00.85), Matthew Pilo in the 100-yard breaststroke (fourth – 1:07.65), Pasha Rusakov in the 50-yard freestyle (fourth - 23.29), Jason Goodwin in the 200-yard breaststroke (third – 2:30.56) and Schmid in the 200-yard IM (fourth – 2:08.46).
On the diving boards, Ben Hale took third in the 1-meter board (409.35) and fourth on the 3-meter (395.95). Teammate Justin Berrios finished in fourth on the 1-meter (386.30) and fifth on the 3-meter (373.90).
For the women, Emily Karszes recorded a top finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.14. Teammate Laurie Jackson took fourth in the same event (2:28.03).
Other top-5 finishes went to Katie Flood in the 100-yard backstroke (fifth – 1:08.22), Sabia Filiaci in the 50-yard freestyle (fifth – 26.47) and Maya Kaplan in the 500 yard freestyle (fourth - 6:09.78).
Samantha Moss took fourth on both the 1- (283.50) and 3-meter diving board (282.55). Teammate Kathryn McKinney also placed in the top five on the 1-meter board with a score of 250.50.
