The Oswego State men`s tennis team earned its sixth win of the season by defeating host Keystone College 8-1 on Monday afternoon. Oswego`s (6-4) win total is its best in the past nine seasons, surpassing the 2012-13 squads` five victories. The Giants falls to 1-10 on the year with their loss.
Ben Weiss cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at first singles while Mike Owens downed his opponent 6-2, 6-4 in the second slot. The two then teamed up at first doubles to down their opponents 8-4.
Much like the their first doubles counterparts, Tim Van Hine, Jr. combined with Spencer Thorn after winning their singles matches, to take an 8-2 victory at second doubles. Van Hine took his singles match 6-2, 6-4 in the third position while Thorn won in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0, in the fifth spot.
Oswego's final point came from Justin D'Antonio at sixth singles. D'Antonio won easily, 6-0, 6-0, to improve to 5-0 at sixth singles and 6-0 on the year.
The Lakers will return to the courts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts Keuka College.
