The nationally-ranked Oswego State fell 7-4 to No. 15 SUNY Geneseo in Wilson Ice Arena Friday night, Nov. 22.
With the loss, Oswego falls to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in SUNYAC play.
Chris Waterstreet put the Lakers on the board first in the opening period, scoring just after the halfway point. Waterstreet netted the goal on a pass from Mike Montagna.
Oswego held the one-goal advantage going into the intermission. Geneseo came out and changed the complexion of the contest, scoring five goals in the second period to lead 5-2 heading into the break.
The two teams combined for four goals in the first 3:24 of the second period, with the Knights scoring three of the times. Oswego's goal came from Brandon Adams on passes from Denton King and Kyle Badham. King took a shot that Adams was able to rebound and score past the netminder. The goal tied the game at 2-2 at 2:55 in the second.
Genseo went on to score three more goals over the final 17 minutes of the middle period, accumulating the 5-2 advantage.
Andrew Barton scored the first goal of the final period on a Laker power-play, with Bobby Gertsakis and Montagna earning assists. Less than two minutes later, however, Geneseo found the back of the net again.
Montagna notched the team's final goal to finish the night with three points but no comeback could be mounted as the Knights went on to secure the victory.
Oswego will try to rebound and get back to the win column at 7 p.m., Saturday night, Nov. 24, when it travels to take on The College at Brockport for another SUNYAC competition.
