The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded their 2012-13 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 23, during the final night of the State University of the New York Athletic Conference Championships.
The men's team took eighth in the team standings with 176 points, while the women finished ninth with 131 points.
Justin Berrios (So., Bronx, N.Y.) finished his season in impressive fashion, taking sixth place in the men's 3-meter diving event, posting a score of 250.50. Teammate Jacob Bailey (Fr., North Rose, N.Y.) finished 10th in the event with a score of 301.25. In the women's 1-meter final, Samantha Moss (Sr., Hauppauge, NY) earned 14th place with a score of 272.35.
In the final race of his collegiate career, Adam Weber (Sr., Clarence, N.Y.) placed 14th in the 200 backstroke with a final time of 2:01.81. Zach Gerber (Fr., Oswego, N.Y.) added a 16th-place finish in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 49.77. Niklas Hesse (Fr., Stony Brook, N.Y.) also earned a 16th-place finish, posting a time of 2:22.54 in the 200 breaststroke. In the 200 butterfly, Graham Burnell (Fr., Medina, Ohio) captured eleventh place, touching the wall with a time of 2:00.38.
In the grueling 1650 freestyle, Andrew Minnick (Jr., Latham, N.Y.) placed 13th with a time of 17:21.50, narrowly edging out teammate Tom Schmid (Jr., Liverpool, N.Y.), who's time of 17:23.59 was good for fourteenth in the event. Minnick and Gerber were joined by Matt Pamlanye (Jr., Holbrook, N.Y.) and Ben Palais (Jr., Rye, N.Y.) in the 400 freestyle relay where the time of 3:15.37 earned eighth place.
Emily Doe (Fr., Dansville, N.Y.) completed an impressive meet by taking 12th place in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 55.05. It was her second top-16 finish of the weekend.
In the final team standings, the Cortland men were victorious, piling up 795 points over the three-day competition. Meanwhile, Geneseo captured the women's crown with a final team score of 772 points.
