The Oswego State wrestling team (1-3) lost a pair of matches to Lycoming, 22-17, and King's College, 25-13, at the NY/PA Duals hosted by RIT Saturday. In the first dual of the day, the Lakers held a slim 6-3 lead after the first three bouts. Omar Santiago (Sr., Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Abubakarr Sow (Fr., Brookling, N.Y.) posted victories at 133 and 141 pounds, respectively. However, Lycoming went on to win the next five matches to gain a 22-6 advantage. Andrew Cole (Fr., Uniondale, N.Y.) recorded a 17-2 technical fall over Sam Batchelor at 197 pounds followed by Jake DeBuyser (Fr., Rochester, N.Y.) pinning Max Lamport one second before the end of the second period at 285 pounds to make the final score 22-17.
Santiago and DeBuyser recorded their second wins of the day against King's College. However, it would not be enough, as Oswego State lost 25-13. Santiago pinned Aaron Perez in 5:23, while DeBuyser held off Peter Dwyer, 3-0. The remaining Laker victory in the dual came from Justin Patus (Sr., Sachem, N.Y.) in a 13-2 major decision at 157 pounds.
Oswego State will compete in the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals hosted by Lycoming Friday, Jan. 11, and Saturday, Jan. 12.
