Oswego Women`s Basketball Drops SUNYAC Contest to Potsdam

    OS Basketball The Oswego State women's basketball team fought back late, but fell short to SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, losing 74-67. With the loss, Oswego falls to 3-3 on the year and 0-2 in the SUNYAC.

     The Lakers jumped out to an early lead when Jenn Robbins scored the first three points of the game with 18:52 left in the first half.

     The teams battled back and forth, but Oswego led for the majority of the first half. Its largest lead was seven points and came with 4:19 left in the half. The Bears pushed back, and led by a point at halftime, 37-36.

     Potsdam went on a 10-point run to begin the second half, leading 46-36 with 17:59 left to play. Robbins stopped the Bears momentum, scoring a jumper to cut the lead to eight.

     The Lakers tried to battle back as Mary Mazella scored a 3-point shot with 9:54 left to make the score 54-53 Potsdam.

     Oswego led by one after Heather Hebert was fouled while making a layup. Hebert made the foul shot to complete the traditional 3-point play, making the score 61-60 in favor of the Lakers.

     Potsdam took the lead from there and Jessica Kouzan made the score 74-67 Potsdam with: 13 seconds left.

     Hebert led the team with 14 points and nine rebounds while Robbins tallied 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.Paula Egelston finished the day with eight boards.

     The Lakers will return to action on at 6 p.m. on Friday when they host the Cazenovia College Wildcats.
