Make a plan to get to Balloons Under the Moon

Oswego County Offers Free Transportation to ‘Balloons Under the Moon’ August 19

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Department of Mobility Management partners with the Town of Granby to offer free park-n-ride transportation to “Balloons Under the Moon” in Granby on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Sow Goes 3-0 as Wrestling Competes at Wesleyan Quad

    OS Wrestling The Oswego State wrestling team competed at the Wesleyan University Quad on Sunday afternoon, falling three times in total. Oswego`s record moves to 3-12 on the year with the loss.

     The Lakers started the day with Hunter College, dropping a close 27-21 battle. Its second matchup was with the host Cardinals, taking a 26-15 loss on the mats. Oswego closed the day with a 33-10 defeat to Johnson & Wales University.

     Abubakarr Sow was a bright spot for the Lakers as he won all three of his matches in the 149 lb. weight class. Trailing 24-15 against Hunter, Sow took down Monil Shah in just 2:55 to gain six points and pull the Lakers within three with one weight class remaining. Oswego was unable to pull off the comeback as Maxx Stratton, competing in his first match of the season after returning from an injury, took a close 7-3 loss.

     Joe Gorsuch and Cody LaFever each took forfeit wins against Hunter while Scott Bova tied the match early at 9-9 with a 6-5 decision over Dennis Melendez at 197.

     Sow, Bova and Gorsuch each earned their second wins of the day against Wesleyan. Gorsuch took a 5-4 victory against Josh Roometua at 197 while Sow outlasted Chris Siracusa 3-1. Bova won a hard-fought 5-4 contest while impressively changing weight classes after the first match.

     James Ronca was credited with a forfeit against Wesleyan before winning a 6-4 decision at 125 in the team's final match against Johnson & Wales.

     Sow finished his day with an easy 8-2 decision over Matthew Caracappa while Jonathan Ptacek was the other Laker winner to round out the day. At 133, Ptacek won by major decision, 17-9.

     Oswego will now have nearly two weeks off to prepare for the NCAA Northeast Regionals that will take place at 11 a.m. on March 1.
