The Oswego State women's soccer team tied D'Youville College 0-0 in double overtime on Saturday to become the Fredonia Blue Devil Classic champions.
Oswego's impressive performances in its games against D'Youville and Penn State Behrend earned the team multiple individual honors as well. Grace Mueller was named the tournament MVP, while Emma Geyer and Mackenzie Schaffner were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore Emma Allen was in the net for the Lakers during the game against D'Youville, and she played all 110 minutes of the shutout. The Lakers' defense helped her out, allowing only three shots (with just one on goal) from D'Youville during the entire game.
On the other hand, the Lakers were relentless with their shots. The team had 36 shots during the game, with 20 of those coming in the second half. Freshman Lynsey Roth led both teams with 12 shots, followed by Audrey Burbidge with nine and reigning Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week Emma Geyer with seven.
The team will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Friday when they travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to face Clarkson University.
