The Oswego State men`s cross country team placed fifth in a talented field at the Lafayette College Leopard Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Of the six teams at the event, three were Division I competing schools and another was conference-foe and nationally-ranked Cortland. Oswego beat Division I host LaFayette and Division III DeSales while being just two seconds back of Seton Hall University.
As a team, Oswego compiled a 2:21:15.30 time, averaging 28:15.06 per runner in the 8K. Four of the Lakers finished in the top 25 on Saturday, starting with senior Nick Montesano's top-10 finish. Montesano came in ninth place with a time of 27:32.12.
Next in for the Lakers was freshman and reigning Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week, Colin Greenseich. The freshman placed 13th in the race, crossing the finish line in 27:40.67.
Also placing in the top 25 were Justin Sommer (19th) and Tyler Morris, nabbing times of 28:19.64 and 28:37.07, respectively.
Oswego will be back on the course on Saturday, November 1 when it travels to Brockport to compete in the 2014 SUNYAC Championship.
