The Oswego State men's cross country team finished fourth out of 10 teams in an 8k while the women's team finished sixth out of eight in a 5k at the Houghton Highlander Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21.
It was a soggy event as both courses endured a good amount of rain during the morning hours.
Nick Montesano finished first out of the Lakers, coming in 11th place with a time of 27:12.33. Damian Archie and Ben Sweet finished 17th and 18th respectively.
Oswego's Kyle Gilyard, Tyler Morris, Ryan Korzinski and Thorin Kane all came in the top 60 out of 113 runners. The Lakers were very consistent as their top five finishers were all within a minute of each other.
On the women's side, Emily Yerdon finished top for Oswego, coming in seventh with a time of 19:35.34. That mark was the third-straight week that Yerdon set a personal record in a 5k.
Meghan Murphy finished in 10th place, running the course in 19:39.31.
Marta Tomaszewski, Karlee Duffer, Sarah Popovitch and Sammy Bielli all finished in the top 60 out of 105.
The Lakers will travel to SUNY Geneseo at 11 a.m., Oct. 5, for the Geneseo Pre-Regionals.
