The Oswego State women's ice hockey team (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, Nov. 9, losing in an ECAC West contest to SUNY Potsdam 3-2.
Oswego outshot Potsdam 43-16 in the game.
Potsdam struck first on a power play after Oswego was given a two-minute penalty for having too many players on the ice. Jordan Ott scored at 11:02 in the game, with an assist from Amanda Lucky and Brittany Lucky.
Ott scored again less than three minutes later at 13:58, making the score 2-0 in favor of the Bears. Amanda Lucky assisted for the second-straight goal.
Potsdam's Rachel Grefke was given a two-minute penalty for checking at 2:51, giving the Lakers a power-play opportunity. Kendall Appelbaum capitalized on the advantage, scoring at 4:46 off an assist from Olivia Boersen and Leslie Jarvis.
Izzy Fayerman scored the third goal for Potsdam, making the score 3-1 at 2:54 in the third period. Fayerman used another power play advantage and an assist from Amanda Lucky and Brittany Lucky to score the goal.
Oswego mounted a comeback at 18:50 after Potsdam's Jessica Silveria was given a two-minute penalty for tripping. Bridget Hamlin scored the goal assisted by Megan Hagg and Maddy Paul.
The comeback was stalled there and the Bears won, 3-2.
The Lakers will faceoff against the Bears on the road again at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.
