Oswego State men's ice hockey players Zach Josepher (Sr., Wantagh, N.Y.) and Andrew Hare (Sr., Burlington, Ont.) have been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men's Ice Hockey Player and Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4. The top-ranked Lakers moved to 4-0-0 overall and pushed their conference record to 3-0-0 after defeating Brockport and Geneseo last weekend. The victories were the 799th and 800th wins for the program.
Josepher, a defenseman, broke a scoreless tie at 7:17 in the second period with a power-play goal that proved to be the game-winner against the Golden Eagles in a 2-0 win. On Saturday, Josepher tallied his second power-play goal of the weekend at 15:53 of the first period versus
Geneseo to give the Lakers a 4-0 lead en route to a 10-1 win.
Hare stopped 46 of the 47 shots he faced over the weekend as the second-ranked Lakers notched wins over Brockport and Geneseo. Hare posted his second consecutive shutout with 20 saves against the Golden Eagles in a 2-0 decision. He followed that performance by allowing one goal in a 10-1 win against the Blue Knights. Twelve of Hare's 26 saves came in the first period as the Lakers built a 4-1 lead at intermission.
