On Wednesday, October 15, seven candidates for the Oswego County Legislature will attend a meet and greet at the Scriba Fire Barn.
The free event starts at 6:30pm and aims to give residents the opportunity to ask questions and get to know the policies of candidates running for Oswego County Legislature.
Critically, county Legislators determine how Oswego County will manage the impacts of federal budget cuts. All 25 county seats are on the ballot; 11 of those races are contested.
Seven candidates in contested races will be attending the event, as listed below. The area their district covers is noted in parenthesis for easy reference.
- Virginia Delbusto-Cohen for the 3rd District (parts of Richland)
- Bailey Lovenguth for the 4th District (Amboy, parts of Mexico and Parish)
- Stephanie McHugh Edwards for the 13th District (parts of New Haven and Palermo)
- Juniper Mae Dunlap for the 14th District (portions of Scriba and Volney)
- Christine Novak for the 16th District (parts of Oswego City)
- Dorothy Caldwell for the 17th District (parts of Oswego City and Scriba)
- Gena Bartlett for the 24th District (parts of Granby, Minetto, and Oswego Town)
Although current maps of the legislative districts are still being updated by the county, residents may look up their personal voter information, current Legislative District, and polling place here: https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/.
Due to redistricting, many constituents may not be in the same Legislative District they were in when Legislative elections were last held in 2023. We at iHeart Oswego encourage all voters to doublecheck who will be on their ballots in order to make a more informed decision.
Nine days of early voting are offered at the Board of Elections Office, 74 Bunner Street, Suite #1, Oswego, and at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse, 1 Broad Street, Pulaski. More information on early voting is available here from the County Board of Elections. The General Election will take place on November 4th, with polls open from 6am to 9pm across Oswego County.
