
Brendyn Karinchak and Myles Kutscher of the baseball team and Emily Lange of the women's lacrosse team have been honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) for their efforts over the week ending on March 8, 2015. Kutscher and Lange were both named Player of the Week, while Karinchak was selected as Pitcher of the Week.
During a four-game road series with No. 13 Rowan University, both baseball players' contributions helped the team go 3-1.
Karinchak helped Oswego secure its first win of the season against the Owls in Virginia Beach Saturday afternoon. The senior pitched eight innings for the Lakers, not allowing a single run and keeping his ERA at 0.00. Karinchak only allowed four hits in his time on the mound and struck out a team-high eight batters.
Kutscher played in and started all four games of for the Lakers this weekend, helping Oswego begin the season with a winning record. The sophomore batted .389 (7-for-18) during the four-game series, earning a team-high eight RBIs along the way. The Glen Head native also secured an extra-base hit (double) and a run during the outing. Defensively, Kutscher also had eight putouts over the weekend.
Lange started in both games this week for the lacrosse team, recording seven points as the Lakers went 1-1.
In Wednesday's 11-9 loss against RIT, Lange put up two goals while also controlling five draws. In Saturday's 18-6 victory over Houghton, The Saratoga Springs native continued to show off her offensive skill set as she nabbed 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists). The junior also controlled three draws in that contest. On the week,Lange collected four ground balls as well.
Baseball returns to the field at 5 p.m. on Saturday as it travels down to Lake Myrtle, Fla. for the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Lakers will begin the invite with a game against Framingham State College. Women's lacrosse returns to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday as the squad will host Clarkson University at Cazenovia College.
